PERFECT

What next?
Rother District Council
Working under numerous group names as:
The Hub, Broad Oak Chapel, Love Bexhill,
Bumps Bubs & Tots, S.E.W- Sew Eat Wear, Bounce Back
God's Greenhouse, Perfect Halo.
SADLY FOR 3 YEARS OUR LANDLORD RDC
BLOCKED OUR END GABLE WALL
WITH SPILT SALT BAGS
DURING THE BUILDING BEING REPOINTED & PAINTED.
THIS BROUGHT DAMP & WATER INGRESS
INTO THE BUILDING & CAUSING MOULD.
SADLY THE EPC FAILED IN JULY 2021
BUT RDC DIDN'T PUBLISH IT.
IN APRIL 2023 AN EPC BECAME A LEGAL REQUIREMENT
FOR ALL LANDORD'S OF COMMERCIAL PROPERTY.
FOR 3 YEARS WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO
RESOLVE THESE ISSUES VIA
WRITING & PHOTOGRAPHY
THE INVOLVEMENT OF CLLR LYNN LANGLAND
ON SITE MEETINGS
BUT TO DATE WE ARE STILL WAITING.
FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS
WE NOW HAVE THE AID OF HUW MERRIMAN
ALSO THE GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT
FOR LEVELLING UP - HOUSING & COMMUNITIES
HAVE OFFERED TO INVESTIGATE
& HAVE ALSO CONFIRMED THAT
OUR PRIVATELY RENTED BUILDING FROM RDC
HAS NO EPC & NO EXEMPTION
WE RECEIVED UTILITIES RECHARGES FROM
MAY 2021 - MARCH 2023
ALTHOUGH WE HAD REPEATEDLY
ASKED FOR THEM IN 2021
IN THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS
WE COULD NOT APPLY FOR GRANTS
THAT WERE AVAILABLE.
ALTHOUGH WE CANNOT USE THE BUILDING
FOR OUR SERVICES
RDC STILL CHARGED US RENT UP UNTIL THE END OF MARCH 2023
WE HAVE WRITTEN AGAIN TWICE THIS MONTH
BUT RDC HAVE NOT ACKNOWLEDGED
OR RESPONDED TO OUR EMAILS
...
US...
Not afraid of hard graft & sweaty equity,
from 2011 WE - Talitha & Paul Ishi-Smith put to use
OUR experience of design & remodelling
& OUR personal finance from the sale of OUR house
to transform the redundant eco centre.
It was unused, run down, cold, damp & an abandoned cattle shed,
decommissioned public toilet, rubbish dump & place where social crime was happening.
The metamorphosis was staggering, transforming the spaces
to bless & serve Rother & beyond
with community & spiritual well-being.
And what had become a very quirky hidden gem,
nestled in breathtaking countryside,
parkland a children's play-ground
with woodland walks, allotments and
many streams became
the HUB of community for all peoples.
It was soon outgrown & we acquired the land
clearing the dumping round & creating a Garden Of Dreams.
Although semi-rural in location as a stones throw away
from Little Common Village, Bexhill Town Centre
& spectacular coastlands people would often travel
from as far as Tonbridge, Battle, Eastbourne, Rye, Hastings to join with us.
We have given 12 years,
well over £100k of our own money
& time.
We are still hoping...
xx
